Aral Region Water Filtration
In late March, I joined a team of local environmental engineers and organizers on a project to support access to clean water in the Aral Region of western Uzbekistan.
Water Survey

During our visit, I conducted a series of surveys involving 65 students, 3 schools, and 5 households. Across the localities, the surveys showed that communities consumed most (83%) of water through crop irrigation for a total average of 550 liters per day. Excluding irrigation, washing clothes (by hand or via electronic machine) took up the second largest category. Overall, excluding farming, 94 liters of water were consumed on average per person per day, a value over half of the global average.
